See below the key moments of December 2011.

On the 10th of December, Kadikoy RFC played is fourth league game. The match was against Galatasaray. Galatasaray played some great rugby so far and this game was a must win game for them in order to qualify for the semi finals. Galatasaray started the game really well and Kadikoy spent the first 15 min in their own half unable to bring the game on the opposition half. But kadikoy defended well and after some big tackles they managed to scored a try. Kadikoy started to put more pressure on the opposition and just before half time kadikoy scored another try wide. At half time kadikoy was ahead 10 – 0. Galatsaray started the second half like they started the first one and after 20 min in the game manage to score a great try bringing the game to 10 – 5. Straight after the kick off kadikoy managed to steal the ball and after few good phases scored another try wide, 15 -5. Galatasaray gave everything to come back in the game and all their effort paid off at the last second of the game while they scored a try from a 5 m scrum. But it was too late and kadikoy rugby managed the win their 5th match in a row. The contract was fulfilled were after kadikoy rugby were still unbeaten and could now look at the next match against the last team unbeaten in this league the ottomans.
The final result: kadikoy RFC 15 Galatasaray 10.
Man of the match: Doruk Celiktutan, Doruk gave the first try and scored the second one he also made some decisive tackles during the match. Congratulation

On the 17th of december, Kadikoy RFC played is fifth match of the league. The match was against Ottomans rugby club a team kadikoy had never won against since the rugby was introduced in kadikoy in 2006. Both team won all their game and this game would decide who would play home and away in the semi final. The game started with a high tempo and while the ottomans played the first 10 min in kadikoy rugby half, kadikoy managed to score their first try on their first appearance in ottomans half. The score was 7 – 0 for kadikoy. After a late tackle kadikoy second row received a yellow card and Ottomans started to control the ball. After some great rugby phases ottomans managed to score. The game was then tense and each team had the opportunity to score but just before half time after a fast penalty and great offloads Ottomans managed to score a try. The ottomans started to make mistake and after 2 high tackles 2 players were yellow carded. At half time the score was 7 – 12. The second half started like the first half and the ottomans scored on their first occasion a try wide bringing the game to 7 – 17. Ottomans started to play wide every balls and were denied 2 tries by kadikoy heroic defense. Kadikoy started then to control the game after a great back move scored a try wide reducing the score: 12 -17. The game was though and each team were defending really well. After another great move by kadikoy backs Kadikoy number 10 was denied a try and got a yellow card for contesting referees decision. With only 20 min left to play Things were not looking good for kadikoy rugby. Kadikoy started to reduce the risks and concentrated on a forward game. After a penalty 5m from Ottomans try line kadikoy forwards scored a try by their prop. The game was then level: 17 – 17 with 10 min to play. Kadikoy kept the head cool and managed to come back on Ottomans half. After couple of phases The ottomans were penalized for offside and kadikoy kicked the penalty. The score was then 20 – 17. Straight at the kick off kadikoy lost the ball and the ottomans opened wide to score another try bringing the game back to 20 – 22. With 3min left to play kadikoy gave everything to be back on the game and at last second of the game Ottomans centers were caught offside one more time. Kadikoy kicker kicked the penalty well and kept kadikoy rugby unbeaten in this league. This date will be kept in kadikoy rugby history as the first ever win over the ottomans in an epic game. Kadikoy rugby are now qualified for the semi final of the Turkish league and have achieved the clubs target for this season. Congratulation to the players and the coachs.
The final result: Kadikoy RFC 23 Ottomans Rugby 22.
Man of the match: Hilmi Kocak Who made some decisive tackles and who scored the winning penalty. Congratualtion

Dear all,
It has been another exciting month for Kadikoy RFC and I will take this opportunity to share with you the key moments of November.


On the 30th of October, Kadikoy RFC played is first ever league game. The match was against Lions RFC. It was a great opportunity for Kadikoy RFC to make a good start in this league and to show the club has a competitive team for this season league. The contract was fulfilled were after the first half kadikoy RFC had already scored 9 tries. It made things easier for the coach to use all subs during the match.
The final result: kadikoy RFC 80 LionsRFC 0.
Man of the match: Akin Aslan, for a great performance on the day and a great 60 meter try. Congratulations

On the 13th of November, Kadikoy RFC played is Second match of the league. The match was against Avrasya rugby a team kadikoy had already played in a friendly game earlier on. Both teams knew what to expect from each other. The tension was high and Kadikoy RFC didn’t start too well with couple of handling mistake but then the team started to control the game. Kadikoy had another great rugby performance and showed what an organized rugby team can do.
The final result: Kadikoy RFC 80 Avrasya 5.
Man of the match: Alican Acar who scored 7 tries in a great performance. Congratulations

On the 27th of November, kadikoy played is third match of the league aginst IKU. This was a game for Kadikoy RFC to test themselves against a team who previously beat Eskisehir 80 to 5 in a one way game. The game started on a high intensity tempo and the first rucks proved kadikoy RFC forwards were up to the challenge. After 10 min of great play, kadikoy scored a well constructed 4 phase’s try. After the try, kadikoy forwards domination was growing and at half time kadikoy RFC was winning 46 to 0. The second half started with a slower pace and it took couple of minutes for Kadikoy RFC to get back into the game but once they were back in the score grew again.
The final result: Kadikoy RFC 70 IKU 0.
Man of the match: Deniz Krom who entered has a sub, finished best tackler and who was a constant threat for the opposition in attack. Congratulations

Dear all,
It has been a really exciting month for Kadikoy RFC so I will take this opportunity to share with you the key moments of october.

  • On the 8th of October, kadikoy rugby has hosted their first ever friendly game. We were playing Avrasya rugby, a great opportunity for both teams to test themselves during a match before the start of the season. It was a great game of rugby won by impressive kadikoy rugby: 10 tries to 1. Previous player of Saint Joseph rugby Omer Ergun was selected player of the match and Alper Topal was elected best new talent. Congratulation to the players you gave Kadikoy RFC it s first ever victory.
  • On the 19th of October, 6 players from Kadikoy rugby joined an official IRB referee course. They represented kadikoy well and will be rewarded by getting an official IRB referee certification. Well done.
  • On the 22nd of October, the first league fixture was held in Istanbul. The first 3 matches were refereed by kadikoy rugby players. See below the results:

IKU 0 v Galatasaray 65
Koç 62 v Eskişehir Anadolu Gençlik 0

  • On this day 140 players played 4 games of Rugby what a great start for this league. Everyone was a winner especially Rugby. Thanks to all participant clubs, players, federation and the referees. A great start for what will be a really exciting year for Turkish rugby.
  • On the 30th of October, the second league fixture will be held In Marmara besyo stadi. Kadikoy will play their first match league and will be looking to start this competition with a win. We are looking forward to this event and please bring as many people as you can to see the game and to support kadikoy RFC first 15.

Dear all,

I am proud to present the project we have been working on for the past 5 to 6 months. I can now officially announce the creation of Kadikoy Rugby Football Club.

In this news letter I will share with you where we stand and what will be coming in the next weeks, months.
First of all, I will take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this project for their time and willingness.
Our vision for this club is the promotion of our sport in our local area, the creation of a competitive senior rugby team chasing for the league title, followed by the creation of a Rugby academy. We believe a club will only survive by having an academy and we will work hard to achieve this goal.

Today we are proud to have two coaches with great rugby background:
  • Julien TREU (previous clubs: Pornic rugby, saint nazaire rugby, Clontarf rugby, Orleans, Rotterdam rugby club, 3 caps Nederland rugby league team, Ottomans rugby club. Coach experience: Kadikoy rugby, IRC Istanbul: 2 years Turkish champion, Ottomans rugby club)
  • Nicolas Negre (previous clubs: Perpignan, Kadikoy rugby Coach experience: kadikoy rugby club, Saint joseph rugby academy)

We’ve already held 6 training sessions since the 10th of September and we are delighted to see the number of players growing session after session.

Trainings are scheduled as follows:
• Every Wednesday from 20h to 22h in Caddebostan -Meeting point: in front of the Migros.
• Every Saturday from 16h to 18h in Fikirtepe: Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü Fikirtepe Tesisleri


According to the Turkish Rugby Federation our first league match will be held on the 15th - 16th of October. In order for us to be ready, we are organizing a friendly game on the 8th of October.

It is important that all club members are present for our Matches/games. We need the support of everyone. Please don’t hesitate to talk about our match days with friends & family and bring them along to support us on the day.

On a final note, we would also like to congratulate 6 of our players who were selected for the Turkish national team pre-selection camp. We wish them the very best of luck and we believe that they will make Kadikoy rugby proud.
